The AB9D Radio Collection |

|
I started playing with radio parts about 1960. Got a license back then, about 1962. My dream station was a Heathkit general coverage AR-3 and a home built crystal controlled transmitter with a hard to control raging 20 CW watts out. Later I upgraded to a high power killer Heathkit DX-20 at about 50 watts out on a good day. The DX-20 still does amaze me, it will load RF into just about anything. Clip it to a chain link fence and it will load up. I have owned a number of radios over the years, I still have a few pieces from over 30 years ago. I plan to post some information and pictures of some of the gear on here, there will be frequent updates, check back every few weeks and more will be added. Most of what I plan to put on is operational equipment, stuff I use on the air. Hang out on 3840, 3868, you may hear some of it. The current main station is a KWM-2A and 30L-1 and the Hallicrafters SR-2000. They are on the air several times a week. The main antenna is an end fed wire, about 120' up in the trees and a 250' loop about 30' up. I use tuners on both wires. I will start this collection with the radio at the work place since several people have asked about it. Click the links to the right to go there. Added a short piece on the SR-2000, more later December 2006, here is the KWM-2A in progress |
