Here is the PLR-16 with various magazines installed. The pistol will accept any M-16/AR-15 magazine and some of the of the AR-15 accessories. The two pictures on the right show the KelTec Compact Forend installed. The forend is easy to install, inexpensive, a very nice accessory. They have those in stock at $45 + p/h |
| Adding accessories to the PLR-16 is easy. Some flat top AR-15 accessories will fit. I have not found a way to install a bayonet yet..... Shown above in the first picture is the Compact Forend by KelTec. I found the installation fast and simple. While I was installing this accessory I added a compensator/flash suppressor. The KelTec is already threaded for both the forend and compensator. The only trick was to use a drill on the after market compensator on the inside to machine off a little metal. This was needed to get it to line up right, with the slots to the top, when it was tight and seated on the threaded barrel of the PLR-16. This was done by hand and fitted up with trial and error. The instructions are very easy to follow. Turn and slide the bolt carrier assembly back, place the top and bottom forend sections in place, return and latch the bolt carrier/piston back in place as in the last photo. All that is needed to finish the job is thread on the forend cap/retainer real HAND TIGHT and then thread on the compensator. A little hand machine work was needed to get the compensator to line up just right. I used a drill that was a free fit inside the compensator so the threads were not damaged and turning it clockwise removed a small amount of metal from the inside shoulder. It took about 4 or 5 trial and error fit up attempts to get it just right, but no rocket science was involved, just a little patience. Here is the pistol with several magazine choices. First on the left is a standard 30 round AR-15 steel magazine. It reminds me of an AMD-65 some. In the next picture the PLR-16 is sitting on a Beta-C 100 round double drum magazine. With a fully loaded Beta-C the weight and balance as a "PISTOL" is a little off......well......a LOT off. Picture #2 reminds me of SOMETHING....I can't quite get a handle on WHAT it reminds me of....it is a guy thing I guess. Picture #3 has the pistol configured on a snail magazine. I just thought it was out of balance till I tried this. But you gotta admit.....it looks COOL. Remember to vote for Hillery and all her DEMOCRAT GUN GRABBER friends in 2008 !!!
